Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United America. She is a member and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her shrewd questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual abuse.
